International Sterling Royal Danish Spoon Ring (1939)

This sculptural spoon ring is handcrafted from an original International Sterling demitasse spoon in the Royal Danish pattern, first introduced in 1939. Known for its strong architectural form, this design balances clean lines with refined detail, creating a ring that feels both elegant and commanding.

The Royal Danish pattern is defined by its fluted column and striking symmetry. Delicate yet bold, it draws inspiration from classical architecture. A tiny eyelet cut-out at the top of the column adds depth and contrast, creating a subtle point of interest that enhances the overall design.

Unlike traditional spoon rings, this piece has been formed using the entire demitasse spoon. The handle curls gracefully around the bowl, creating a fluid, continuous shape that wraps comfortably around the finger. This approach preserves the original proportions of the spoon and highlights its sculptural beauty.

Shaped and finished by hand in my Adelaide Hills studio, the silver is carefully refined to ensure a smooth interior and a polished exterior that brings out the pattern’s crisp lines. The original interior markings remain visible, stamped U.S.A, Royal Danish, International Sterling, grounding the ring firmly in its history.

This ring is a striking example of spoon jewellery — thoughtfully made from reclaimed sterling silver and transformed into a piece of wearable art. No two vintage spoons are ever exactly alike, making this ring truly one of a kind.
